T.P.O.S. Salutes and Supports
Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

For the first time, we at T.P.O.S. formed a team and participated in the "MAKING STRIDES Against Breast Cancer" event held October 3rd, 2009, at Harbor Park in Norfolk, Virginia. The event was a non-competitive walk of approximately 3.5 miles in distance - walking round-trip from Harbor Park to Nauticus. We saw first hand how the event unites people of all ages with a common goal to fight breast cancer and save lives. Chances are, you’ve been affected by breast cancer in some way, and Making Strides gives you the power to fight back and make a difference.
Our involvement with MAKING STRIDES Against Breast Cancer was as unique and special as the story that motivated us. My mother, Mrs. Dorothy Fitch, was the longest breast cancer survivor participating in this years event - 29 years!! And yes, at the ripe young age of 75 years old, she walked the entire route with the team!!! Additionally, we were motivated by Ms Fredda Bryan who is not only a breast cancer survivor but a dear friend who I commonly refer to as my daughter. You see, each step taken is personal and each step is helping to save lives. More than a walk, the American Cancer Society MAKING STRIDES Against Breast Cancer describes the progress we’re making together to fight this disease, provide comfort and hope, and save lives from breast cancer.
Seth & Steve Fitch, hosts of the weekly Sports Podcast show, In Da Kennel ensured the show be part of this special event by having Seth broadcast live while he participated in the walk. To hear the broadcast, click here and select show #55.
Because of all the teams and individual participants who supported this event, we raised money that will exceed $380,000 for the fight against breast cancer. A special thanks to the 7,000 walkers who joined us on October 3rd at Harbor Park! THANK YOU!
