The professional activities of “Total Preparation for Opportunities via Sports” are guided by a deep personal sense of mission, driven by my belief that our athletic culture is at a critical juncture in history. The crisis is manifested by symptoms such as environment degradation, explosive media exposure and sponsorship growth, and the lack of a structured athlete mentoring program. I maintain that the cause of these symptoms, however, can be traced to the fact that the athlete’s understanding - and therefore the athlete’s behavior - has not advanced in step with the current athletic environment. This discordance between knowledge and understanding is particularly acute in high school and collegiate athletics, and has subsequently emerged in professional sports as well as recreation level activities.
